Ask the Managing Director

Ask the Managing Director! You’ve got questions—we’ve got answers!

Today, we’re bringing you some of the most common questions we receive about FACT. Our managing director, Vicki Rolens, has answered some of them below, but if you still have questions, please contact us anytime Monday-Friday from 8:00-5:00 CST or at cservice@usafact.org. We are always happy to assist you!

Q: What is FACT?

A: FACT stands for the Federation of American Consumers & Travelers. FACT is a consumer association founded in 1984 that offers over 25 different benefits including coverage, savings and opportunities. Some of the more popular benefits include dental, vision & prescription discounts, travel discounts, scholarships, grants, disaster aid, an ambulance benefit, MedEvac and telemedicine. Membership is $48 annually.

Q: How does FACT compare with other associations and membership organizations?

A: There aren’t too many groups with the same make up and goals as FACT. Others seem to be political in nature, or they are focused on one special segment of society—senior citizens only, women only, realtors only, etc. FACT embraces people of all ages and walk of life.

Q: When FACT sponsors a benefit, does the company providing the benefit pay FACT a commission?

A: No. FACT is supported entirely by its dues revenue and is prohibited from receiving commissions.

Q: What are FACT’s goals?

A: There are a few basic goals. One, of course, is to form a group that is large enough to command deeper discounts and better prices than each member could obtain on their own. Also, to increase members’ consumer awareness so that they will be able to improve their quality of life while decreasing cost.

Additionally, we strive to provide FACT-specific services to assist members with projects, education, small business recovery and other areas by creating programs designed by FACT for FACT. For example, in 2020, we added Telemedicine access in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Q: I am able to login to FACT, but how do I receive health discounts?

A: You must present your FACT health discount card at a participating provider to receive a discount at the time of service. You may print your Health Discount Card on the FACT website link after logging in under ‘News and Helpful Resources’ and then ‘My Wallet’ to download and print your Membership Card. You may also access it digitally through downloading the “My Benefits Work” app on your smartphone. All other benefits can be accessed through the website and do not require any physical card.
