Travel Guide: St. Louis

St. Louis has a special place in the FACT office’s heart. Did you know our headquarters are located just 25 minutes away in Edwardsville, Illinois? That said, we have a few opinions about our hometown and what you should do when you visit!

What to Do

St. Louis is a sprawling city with a lot to offer for all ages. Whether you are here for an adult-only stay or looking to keep kids occupied, you won’t have to look far.

Breweries – St. Louis is of course home to the infamous Budweiser Brewery. Tours are free and of course include a complimentary beer at the end of your tour! A favorite part of the tour is the large Clydesdales you will recognize from their iconic commercials. Looking for more breweries to tour? Check out Schlafly Bottleworks, 4 Hands Brewing Company, or Urban Chestnut Brewing.

Sports – Depending on the season, head out to a baseball or hockey game! Busch Stadium is an amazing place to take in a baseball game. Be sure to plan a trip to Ballpark Village before or after the game for more fun. Visiting St. Louis in the winter? Take a seat at the Enterprise Center with the 2019 Stanley Cup Champions, the St. Louis Blues!

For Kids – There is no shortage of places to take your kids in St. Louis. The St. Louis Zoo is an excellent (and free!) zoo located in beautiful Forest Park. You may also want to check out Grant’s Farm, The Magic House, or the City Museum for a great time that will sure to leave the kids happy and worn-out!

Where to Stay

Hotel Saint Louis – This new boutique-style hotel features unique rooms and a wonderful rooftop. Centrally located downtown, you will be close to restaurants, nightlife and Busch Stadium.

Drury Inn at Union Station – This hotel is located near St. Louis’s Union Station, which is soon-to-be home to the St. Louis Aquarium. It also houses Lombardo’s Trattoria, a great spot for some local Italian food!

Four Seasons – For the ultimate luxury stay, look no further than the Four Seasons. Located on the Mississippi River, the hotel boasts amazing views and accommodations. Be sure to check out the spa!

What to Eat

St. Louis is home to a vast array of food options ranging from barbeque to world-class Italian food. Come hungry!

The Hill – Ok, this is actually an entire neighborhood rather than a restaurant, but there are so many options to choose here! Take a stroll through the neighborhood and visit Volpi Sausage, Missouri Baking Company, or Zia’s for all your Italian food cravings.

Sugarfire BBQ – You wouldn’t want to leave St. Louis without experiencing some delicious barbeque. With a location conveniently located downtown, stop by for some brisket and don’t forget to try all the different sauces!

Eleven Eleven Mississippi – Fine dining in the historical Soulard neighborhood, Eleven Eleven describes its cuisine as “Tuscan Californian.” Treat yourselves to a lovely meal here or head upstairs to the sister restaurant Vin De Set and enjoy the patio views.
